Cleansol Isopropyl Alcohol 99.9% (IPA)
About this item
Cleansol Isopropyl Alcohol 99.9% (IPA) is a high-purity solvent and cleaner – almost no water, so it evaporates in seconds and leaves zero residue. The first choice for cleaning circuit boards, flux, thermal paste, camera lenses and screens, and for removing grease, ink, sticker glue and 3D-print resin. From a 500 ml spray for your desk to 25 L for service centres, print shops, labs and factories.

Why choose it
- 99.9% pure: virtually no water – safe for electronics when used correctly.
- Dries in seconds: no residue, no streaks, no film.
- Cuts grease and gunk: dissolves flux, thermal paste, oil, ink, glue and resin.
- One solvent, many jobs: electronics, optics, printing, 3D printing, workshops and labs.
- Value packs: the 25 L pack works out to about ₹260 per litre.
Where to use
| Job | How |
|---|---|
| Circuit boards & flux | Power off; brush on with a soft anti-static brush; let dry fully |
| CPU / GPU thermal paste | Wipe old paste with a lint-free cloth dampened with IPA |
| Mobile & laptop repair | Clean contacts, connectors, ports and adhesive residue |
| Camera lenses, glass & screens | A drop on a lens tissue or microfibre – never pour directly |
| 3D printing | Wash resin prints; clean the print bed |
| Sticker glue, ink & marker | Dab, wait a few seconds, wipe – test hidden spot first |
| Printing, coating & workshops | Degrease metal and tools before painting, bonding or coating |
| Labs | General solvent, glassware drying, equipment wipe-down |
Need a surface sanitizer? Make your own 70%
For sanitizing handles, counters and phones, 70% works better than 99.9% because the water keeps the surface wet longer. Mix 700 ml IPA 99.9% + 300 ml Cleansol DM water for about 1 litre of 70% surface sanitizer. Or buy ready-to-use Cleansol IPA 70%.

Where not to use
- Acrylic / perspex, polycarbonate and some soft plastics – may crack or cloud.
- Painted, lacquered or polished wood, leather and rubber seals.
- On switched-on electronics, hot surfaces or near flames.
- Not for drinking or use on the body.
Safety & storage
- Highly flammable: keep away from flames, soldering irons that are still hot, gas stoves, sparks and heaters. Do not smoke.
- Use in a ventilated place. Avoid contact with eyes; if splashed, rinse with water for 15 minutes.
- Close the cap tightly after use – IPA absorbs moisture from the air and evaporates quickly.
- Store in a cool place away from sunlight and heat, out of reach of children.
Frequently asked questions
Why does 1 litre weigh less than 1 kg?
IPA is sold by volume, and it is lighter than water: its density is about 0.785 g/ml. So 1 L of IPA weighs about 785 g, 500 ml about 390–400 g, and 5 L about 3.9 kg (liquid only). You always get the full volume printed on the label – measure it with a measuring cylinder, not a weighing scale.
Is IPA 99.9% safe for electronics?
Yes, when the device is switched off and unplugged. It evaporates completely and conducts no electricity once dry. Let the part dry fully before powering it on.
Should I use 99.9% or 70% for sanitizing?
Use 70%. The water in 70% IPA keeps surfaces wet long enough for the alcohol to work. 99.9% is best for cleaning and degreasing.
How do I make 70% IPA from 99.9%?
Mix 7 parts IPA 99.9% with 3 parts DM or distilled water – for example 700 ml IPA + 300 ml Cleansol DM water.
Can I clean thermal paste with it?
Yes. Wipe the old paste from the CPU or GPU and the heatsink with a lint-free cloth or coffee filter dampened with IPA 99.9%, let it dry, then apply new paste.
Will it damage plastic?
It is safe on most hard plastics, but can crack or cloud acrylic, polycarbonate and some soft plastics. Test on a hidden spot first.
