Cleansol Ammonium Alum Lumps (Ammonia Alum) | Water Purification, Dyeing, Pickling & Deodorizing Coagulant
Product Description:
Cleansol Ammonium Alum (Ammonia Alum) is a double sulfate of aluminum and ammonium supplied in hard crystalline lumps. It serves as a coagulant, clarifying agent, and mordant across multiple industries including water purification, textile dyeing, leather pickling, and deodorant manufacturing. Its high solubility, purity, and stability make it ideal for consistent performance in both industrial and commercial processes.

Key Features & Benefits
- High-purity crystalline alum for consistent coagulation and dye-fixing performance.
- Rapidly soluble in water, forming clear, stable solutions.
- Provides excellent flocculation in water and wastewater treatment.
- Effective as a dye mordant for natural and synthetic fabrics.
- Non-toxic and environmentally compatible when used as directed.
Applications & Uses
-
Water Purification: Clarifying agent and coagulant for removing turbidity and suspended particles.
-
Textile Industry: Dye mordant for cotton, silk, and wool to improve color fixation and uniformity.
-
Pickling & Tanning: Used in leather processing and selected food pickling operations (where regulations allow).
-
Deodorizing & Astringent Blocks: Applied in crystal deodorant and post-shave mineral blocks.
-
Laboratory Use: Demonstration of crystallization and inorganic compound properties.
Directions of Use
-
For Water Treatment (Jar Test / Coagulation): Dissolve 5–10 g of alum per 10 L of water (~50–100 ppm). Stir well, allow settling, and observe clarity. Adjust dose based on turbidity and water type.
-
For Textile Dyeing (as Mordant): Prepare a 5–10% alum solution in water. Immerse fabric at 60–80 °C for 20–30 minutes before dyeing. Rinse well and proceed with color bath.
-
For Deodorizing Blocks: Dissolve alum in warm water (10–15%) and mold or recrystallize as required for solid mineral blocks.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated place. Keep containers tightly closed to avoid caking or hydration loss. Protect from moisture and incompatible materials such as bases and metals.
Warnings
Handle with care. May cause irritation to eyes and skin. Avoid breathing dust. Use gloves and goggles during handling. Do not ingest or mix with alkaline materials.
Safety & Handling Summary
This summary does not replace the official Safety Data Sheet (SDS).
- Stable under normal conditions; non-flammable.
- First Aid: Rinse eyes/skin with water for at least 15 minutes; seek medical attention if irritation persists.
- Inhalation: Move to fresh air; consult a physician if symptoms continue.
- Spill: Sweep carefully; collect residue in dry containers and dispose as per local regulations.
