About this item
- Monounsaturated C18:1 fatty acid: Oleic acid is a pale yellow, oily long-chain fatty acid derived from vegetable or animal fats.
- Emollient and soap-forming acid: Softens and conditions in cosmetics and forms soaps with KOH, NaOH or TEA for emulsifiers and liquid soaps.
- Main applications: Soap and liquid soap making, cosmetics and hair oils, emulsifiers, lubricants, metalworking fluids and textile auxiliaries.
- Typical use level: 1–5% in hand wash/liquid soap, 5–20% in cleansing oils; neutralise with alkali for soap formation.
- Industrial / Cosmetic grade liquid: Pale yellow oily liquid in 500 ml to 45 L packs. GST invoice.

Storage & handling
Minimise air exposure to slow oxidation and darkening.
May become cloudy or solidify below ~10 °C – warm gently and mix before use.
Keep away from strong oxidisers.
Safety & first aid
PPE: Nitrile gloves and safety glasses; protective clothing for bulk handling.
First aid: Eyes – rinse with water for 15 min; Skin – wash with soap and water; Inhalation – move to fresh air; Ingestion – rinse mouth, drink water, seek medical advice if unwell
Spills: Absorb with sand or inert absorbent; oil-soaked rags may self-heat – wet them and dispose in closed metal container.
Do not mix with: Strong oxidisers (nitric acid, peroxides, permanganate); strong alkalis react exothermically.
